Stop Bitching

There is nothing that irritates me more than when someone bitches about something that is something they can change.

A friend and I were talking about this the other evening over a nice brew from J.K. O’Donnell’s.

Why sit and complain about something in life if you can change it? I mean really. We are able to do literally anything in our lives if we put our minds to it.

I hear a lot of “poor me” and as I sit there listening to most of these people, I literally am thinking in my head how much I want to tell them to STOP BITCHING. Okay, your roommate blows, find a new place. Your brother in law is annoying, stop enabling him. Your marriage is failing, see a counselor. You hate your job, find a new one. You’re overweight, change your eating habits.

I know some people may think that situations like those aren’t so black and white, but I think they can be.

If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.

Word.

There is no room in life to bitch about someone or something else. Why not move all your energy to things you can control? Or focus on the positive in your life. People like people who exude positive energy. People don’t like people who moan and groan about life’s short comings.

Shit happens. People die. We fail. People let you down. Etc.

But why sit and feel sorry for yourself? I get that sometimes in life you have to grieve and get so drunk to deal with something. That’s allowed (or at least that’s what I tell myself). But you are not allowed to do this for weeks, months. At that point you are pathetic and need to make a change.

I’m a big believer in picking yourself up from what life gives you and making the changes yourself. It’s hard as hell and doesn’t happen overnight, but it can be done. Your issues in life can change into non issues. And you can be a happier you.

And isn’t that what we all strive for in life, happiness?

It’s that simple.

Life issues – complaining + making changes = happiness.

You’re welcome.

Cheers,

Laine
